GitHub Copilot review: AI assisted programming

It was hated, and now loved.

GitHub Copilot is a large language model that is trained to autocomplete and suggest relevant code snippets (and more) based on what you type.

Is it any good?

Yep, top 5 software I've used in this last year. It’s probably the best coding assistant on the market in terms of practicality. It’s important to note that Copilot is best on the side. In other words, Copilot cannot be trusted without review. In fact, I'm using Copilot to write this article! Everyone talks about how amazing Copilot is for coding, but it's just as good as generating ideas whenever you need to write copy.

Here’s an example of writing a comment to prompt it to finish a task using exterior libraries and previously written code that would’ve taken me an extra minute to write.

Is it worth it?

Yep. It's free for students and costs $10 a month for individuals. It is one of the few subscriptions that I have, so that speaks for itself. The amount of hours saved on coding and writing is absurd. Whether it's autocompleting a straightforward function or generating a whole paragraph of copy, those hours add up.

Hope I saved you some time. Make sure to subscribe if you want more 1 minute reads like this.
